Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning stallion Captain Of All is set to be represented by his first runner at Scottsville on Wednesday.
His two-year-old first crop daughter Royal Splurge will have her first official race when lining up in a maiden juvenile plate over 800m for trainer Michael Miller and rider Lyle Hewitson.
Bred by the Waterford Stud, Royal Splurge, who is drawn at seven in the nine horse field, is out of the Judpot mare Judbury.
Her sire Captain Of All was one of the best sprinters to have raced in South Africa during the past decade.
South Africa’s Equus Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015, Captain Of All won or placed in 11 of 12 outings and banked more than R2.2 million in stakes.
His seven career victories included the G1 Gold Medallion at two, and the G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint, G1 Mercury Sprint and G2 Diadem Stakes at four.
In total, Captain Of All won or placed in seven graded races, and was just touched off into second place in the 2015 G1 Cape Flying Championship.
He is one of 18 G1 winners sired by deceased champion sire Captain Al –who notched up no fewer than eight titles of champion 2yo sire. Captain Of All shares his sire with such notable G1 winners as Carry On Alice, Cloth Of Cloud, Hill Fifty Four, Captain’s Lover, Snowdance, Always In Charge, Pine Princess, All Is Secret, Emerald Cove and Undercover Agent –as well as the remarkable 23 time winner Captain Lars.
Captain Of All, whose speedy winning dam is a half-sister to the G3 winning two-year-old Cats Eye, has nine lots on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
