First runners for Vercingetorix

10th December 2018

Maine Chance Farms’ resident stallion Vercingetorix is set to have his first runner at Turffontein this Saturday when his son Astrix will debut over 800m for trainer Paul Peter. Bred by the Riverton Stud, the 2yo Astrix was produced by the Victory Moon mare Victory Dance.

Another two-year-old son Fearless Warrior makes his debut in a maiden juvenile plate over 1000 metres at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud (who also bred Vercingetorix), the 2yo Fearless Warrior is trained by Vaughan Marshall.

Out of the Captain Al mare War Path, Fearless Warrior was a R275 000 buy from the 2018 April Yearling Sale.

His sire Vercingetorix was South Africa’s Equus Champion of 2012-2013 and was unbeaten in South Africa where he won both the G1 Daily News 2000 and G2 KZN Guineas (a double previously completed by the great stallion Dynasty).
Exported to Dubai, Vercingetorix won the G1 Jebel Hatta and G2 Al Rashidiya and also finished second in the G1 Dubai Duty Free-where he accounted for the international G1 winners Dank,  Mshawish, Hunter’s Light and The Fugue.

One of 20 G1 winners sired by fellow Maine Chance resident Silvano, Vercingetorix is one of two graded stakes winners produced by National Assembly matron National Vixen. The latter, also dam of dual G3 winner Trinity House, won five times up to 1400m and ran second in the G3 Champagne Stakes.

Vercingetorix has seven lots on offer at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
