Flower Alley son maintains his unbeaten record

23rd Jun 2019

Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting and well performed stallion Flower Alley has made a pleasing start with his first South African crop of 2yos this season, and the former G1 Travers Stakes winner looks to have come up with a potentially very smart performer in the form of Alibi Guy.

The latter made it win number two from as many starts when justifying tote favouritism with a convincing score at Scottsville on Saturday.
Alibi Guy, trained by Mike de Kock and ridden to victory on Saturday by Anton Marcus, defied greeness in running by powering home late and getting up to win a juvenile plate over 1600m by a neck-going away.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the unbeaten colt had won his only previous outing when successful at the Vaal back in May.

Alibi Guy, who is closely inbred to Forty Niner, was a R450 000 buy from last year’s National Two Year Old Sale.

The colt is out of the Rich Man’s Gold mare Treaj Pots.

He is one of five 2yo winners to have emerged from Flower Alley’s first South African crop, with others including Keep Smiling, Rille, Smiley Kylie and Parterre. Flower Alley is also sire of White Lace -who has been entered for Saturday’s Listed Irridescence Stakes.

The sire of 40 stakes horses, including Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, Flower Alley has two lots on the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale.
