Now a winner of four of her 12 starts, the progressive Seville Orange took her earnings to R523 100 with her first graded victory.

The classy 3yo had previously been placed in all of the G1 Woolavington 2000, G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks and Listed Oaks Trial.

Out of the Galileo mare Serruria, Seville Orange is bred on the same Duke Of Marmalade/Galileo cross as dual Oaks runner up Venus De Milo.

Seville Orange is the third graded stakes winner, and fourth stakes winner in total, to have emerged from Duke Of Marmalade’s first South African crop, with others including recent G2 KRA Fillies Guineas winner Santa Clara and Cape champion, and dual graded winner, Temple Grafin.

The five time G1 winning Duke Of Marmalade is also the sire of some very promising 2yos this season including G2 SA Fillies Nursery third True To Life and the Perfect Promise Sprint placed Sanskrift. The latter holds an entry for Saturday’s Listed Irridescence Stakes at Kenilworth.

Also sire of G1 winners Simple Verse, Big Orange, Star Of Seville, Nutan and Sound Of Freedom, Duke Of Marmalade has three lots on offer at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale.
