Fourth winner for Erupt

23rd Jun 2022

Maine Chance Farms’ beautifully bred young sire Erupt was responsible for a fourth first crop winner on Thursday when his two-year-old daughter Flowerbomb justified favouritism at the Vaal.
Second on each of her only two previous starts, Flowerbomb made no mistakes when romping home to a clear-cut win in Thursday’s Racing240 For Racing. For You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000m).

Under Marco Van Rensburg, the Corne Spies trained miss showed her rivals a clean pair of heels with Flowerbomb pulling away to win by an emphatic three lengths.

Bred by Laurence Wernars, Flowerbomb was a R50 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

Her sire’s fourth winner to date, Flowerbomb is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Daffodil.

One of South Africa’s leading first season sires for 2021-2022, dual G1 winner Erupt has made a fine start to his stud career with his early winners headed by G3 Protea Stakes/Listed Storm Bird Stakes winner Karangetang.

Erupt, one of 50 G1 winners for his outstanding sire Dubawi, has seven lots on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale including a filly (Lot 3) bred on similar lines to New Zealand champion Bonneval, and a filly (Lot 140) out of G1 winning champion Far De Vie.
