Ascot Stud’s promising Galileo horse Global View enjoyed a notable result at Fairview on Friday when supplying a pair of eye catching winners at the Eastern Cape track.

Global View’s first success on Friday came when his promising two-year-old daughter Sound Check romped home to win the first race by four and a half lengths.
A winner of her two previous starts, including the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery, the Alan Greeff trained filly made it a hatrick of wins with a dominant performance under Greg Cheyne.

Bred by the Ascot Stud, Sound Check, now a winner of three of just five starts, was a R160 000 buy from the 2020 National Yearling Sale.

Global View’s local star Global Drummer claimed his eighth win from 11 starts when scoring a comfortable win over 1200m. The Gavin Smith trained gelding, always prominent under Lyle Hewitson, kept finding more in the closing stages to claim Friday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 MR97 Divided Handicap (1200m) by three-parts of a length.

Three-year-old Global Drummer, also bred by Ascot Stud, was the Eastern Cape’s Champion 2YO Gelding of 2019-2020, when he won all of the Listed East Cape Nursery, Listed Dahlia Plate and Listed Champion Juvenile Cup.

Out of the Kilconnel mare Royal Drummer, Global Drummer has now won four of six starts this season.

The Global View gelding was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 National Sale.

From the same family as Storm Bird and Green Tune, and by the world’s premier sire, Global View showed high-class form on the track and won the G3 Generous Stakes (at two) and G2 American Turf Stakes (at three).
