Ascot Stud’s well performed Galileo horse Global View looks to have a very smart two-year-old to his credit in the form of the promising Sound Check.

The latter made it three wins in a row when romping home to win the first race at Fairview on Friday in facile fashion.

A convincing winner of the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time out, the Alan Greeff trained Sound Check was sent off 10-11 tote favourite for the Welcome To Fairview Juvenile Plate (1400m) on Friday and the Ascot Stud bred filly lived up to her billing.

Under Greg Cheyne, the two-year-old daughter of Global View pulled well clear of her chasing rivals in the closing stages of Friday’s race, with Sound Check going on to score by four and a half lengths.

Third in her first two starts, Sound Check followed up her subsequent maiden win by landing the East Cape Fillies Nursery by three-parts of a length, and the filly has now won three of just five starts.

Out of the National Assembly mare Rexana, Sound Check was a R160 000 buy from the 2020 National Yearling Sale.

A graded stakes winner at both two and three, Global View made an impressive start to his stud career and was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020.
