Mauritzfontein’s successful sire Ideal World has made a solid start to the 2020-2021 racing season, and the regally bred son of Kingmambo recorded yet another double, when supplying a pair of winners at Fairview on Friday afternoon.

His son Mangrove landed Friday’s feature race, the Friendly City Stakes, with Ideal World also the sire of Friday’s third race winner, Colorado Springs.
The Yvette Bremner trained Mangrove made it win number nine when he claimed the Friendly City Stakes (Non-Black Type) over 1800m on Friday afternoon. Under jockey Wayne Agrella, the seven-year-old prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Friendly City Stakes, when Mangrove dug down deep to hold off favourite Rock Aloe by a short head.
Out of the Al Mufti mare Neck Of The Woods, Mangrove was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein.
Mangrove’s paternal half-sister Colorado Springs got off the mark when the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred scored over 1600m on Friday.
Second in her two previous starts, three-year-old Colorado Springs ran on strongly, under Greg Cheyne, to break her maiden by a length and a quarter.
Trained by Alan Greeff, Colorado Springs is out of the Western Winter mare and she is bred on the same Ideal World/Western Winter cross as G3 Track And Ball Oaks winner Zante.
Out of a champion full-sister to champion sire Dansili, as well as highly successful stallions Cacique and Champs Elysees, Ideal World is currently the sire of more than 40 black type horses, notably Equus Champions Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo, multiple G1 winner Rainbow Bridge and G1 SA Derby winner Samurai Warrior.
