Promising three-year-old Queroyal, who hails from the same female line as Maine Chance Farms’ stallions Quasillo and Querari, justified favouritism when he won Saturday’s G3 200 Jahre Deutscher Galopprennsport Derby-Trial at Baden-Baden.
Reined back to track the leaders in fourth after a slick getaway, he was bustled along to close at the top of the straight and stayed on strongly once launching his challenge at the furlong marker to deny Magical Beat by a length in a bunch finish.
Queroyal, a colt by Churchill, is out of G3 Grosser Preis der Landeshauptstadt Dusseldorf winner Queenie.
The latter sports German champion Quebrada as her granddam, with that former German 1000 Guineas also ranking as the granddam of talented half-brothers Quasillo and Querari.
The former made news this season as the sire of G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Ameena, while the ever consistent Querari is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs, by stakes, for 2021-2022.
