Gimmethegreenlight filly wins on debut

30th May 2022

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight has a very crop of two-year-olds to his name this season, and the son of More Than Ready came up with another smart looking juvenile winner on Sunday.
Gimmethegreenlight filly Gimme A Shot provided former champion South African jockey S’Manga Khumalo with one of three winners on the card when she made a winning debut at Turffontein on Sunday afternoon.

The Michael and Adam Azzie trained two-year-old powered away to land Sunday’s 4Racing. TV Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1200m) by a length and three-quarters, with another first timer daughter of Gimmethegreenlight, Gimme The Flame, taking second spot.

Gimme A Shot, who was bred by her owner Kevin Soal, is out of the Rakeen mare Shot In The Dark.

She is the tenth two-year-old winner for Gimmethegreenlight this season thus far, with the champion also responsible for the very exciting Ciao Bella and G3 Cape Racing Cape Of Good Hope Nursery runner up Wecangoallnight.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight has two lots on offer at the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and four lots on sale at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale.
