Fresh off supplying a smart debut winner at Kenilworth on Wednesday in the form of Iconic Destination, Varsfontein Stud’s champion sire Gimmethegreenlight came up with yet another impressive first-timer when his son Bright Green won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.

Under Keagan De Melo, the two-year-old Bright Green produced a powerful turn of foot which propelled him to a near two and a half length win in Saturday’s LaLiga Juvenile Plate over 1200m.
Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, the Gimmethegreenlight colt was bred by Drakenstein Stud.
Out of the Wolfhound mare Bright Wolf, Bright Green was a R450 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
Bright Green joins the likes of Iconic Destination, G3 Cape Racing Cape Of Good Hope Nursery runner up Wecangoallnight and Listed TAB Perfect Promise Sprint second Destination as smart two-year-olds representing Gimmethegreenlight this season.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight has had another excellent season this year with the son of More Than Ready represented by nine black type winners in 2021-2022 thus far.
