Oratorio filly wins Devon Air Stakes

11th June 2022

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s veteran Danehill horse Oratorio came up with his 62nd stakes winner when his promising daughter Canadian Summer won the Listed Hollywoodbets Super League Devon Air Stakes (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Darryl Moore, two-year-old Canadian Summer made it two wins from just three starts when victorious in Saturday’s Listed feature.
Under Jason Gates, Canadian Summer came right to the outside and powered away to win impressively by nearly a length and a quarter.

A smart winner of her previous start, the Oldlands Stud bred Canadian Summer was an R80 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.

The classy Canadian Summer is out of the Silvano mare Autumn Splendour.

Canadian Summer joins the likes of champions Banchee and Beethoven, G1 Gold Medallion winner Van Halen and group/graded stakes winners King Torus, Ottimo and Love Bomb as stakes winning two-year-olds for Oratorio.

Twice leading sire in Italy, Oratorio has four lots on the 2022 CTS Farm Yearling Sale and a further four lots on the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale.
