Varsfontein Stud’s top class young stallion Gimmethegreenlight enjoyed another memorable weekend.
Not only was Gimmethegreenlight responsible for both G2 Gauteng Guineas runner up Surcharge and G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas third Green Top, he also looks to have a smart two-year-old on his hands in the form Inauguration.
The latter, bred by Varsfontein, followed up a barrier trial when coming out to down favourite Play Another Tune in a maiden juvenile plate over 1400m at Greyville on Sunday.
Another son of Gimmethegreenlight, Gimme A Brake Nate overcame a poor draw to finish third.
Out of the Judpot mare Head Of State, Inauguration is the second two-year-old winner for Gimmethegreenlight this season. To date, the son of More Than Ready has been represented by 10 juvenile starters, of which eight have either won or been in the money.
Inauguration was one of two weekend winners for his G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning sire, with Gimmethegreenlight also sire of impressive, two length maiden winner Forgimme. Racing for trainer Johan Janse Van Vuuren, the consistent 3yo filly Forgimme has now won or placed in five of seven starts.
