Varsfontein Stud’s high-class More Than Ready sire Gimmethegreenlight, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2015-2016, pulled off yet another notable achievement when his daughters ran 1-3-4 in Saturday’s G2 Prosport International Debutante Stakes (1200m) presented by Gagasi FM at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Gimmethegreenlight is not only the sire of Debutante winner Ecstatic Green, but also third place finisher Fiftyshadesdarker as well as the fourth home, Thumbs Up.
Th Schalkie van der Walt bred three-year-old Ecstatic Green justified tote favouritism with an authorative win, with the promising filly romping home to a 2.4 length win in the Debutante.
Ridden to victory by Lyle Hewitson, the Sean Tarry trained Ecstatic Green has now won twice, from just six starts, with the filly having finished a close second in last season’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship.
Out of the Ashtontown mare Ecstatic, and bred on similar lines to the likes of Pluck and Hack Green, Ecstatic Green was a R500 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Ecstatic Green is the 26th stakes winner for her G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning sire, with Gimmethegreenlight’s other notable daughters including fellow graded stakes winners Gimme Six, Green Plains, Rose In Bloom, and La Bella Mia –as well as Zimbabwean Horse Of The Year Simona.
Gimmethegreenlight also gained a boost to his pedigree page on Saturday, when his close relative Persan (by Pierro) picked up his fifth win at Caulfield.
