Varsfontein Stud’s bang inform stallion Gimmethegreenlight looks to have yet another bright prospect in the form of Ottoman Empire.

The latter made it two wins from two starts when romping home to a facile win at Kenilworth on Saturday afternoon.
Bred by the Wicklow Stud, gelded 3yo Ottoman Empire had scored an impressive two and a quarter length win over 1250m on debut and followed up that effort impressively on Saturday.
Trained by Eric Sands, Ottoman Empire justified 3-1 tote favouritism when scoring by a length and a half over 1400m and he looks progressive.
Out of the Elusive Quality mare Ankara, Ottoman Empire was a R300 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
His sire Gimmethegreenlight, whose flagbearers include 2020 G1 winners Got The Greenlight and Yulong Prince, has some very exciting 3yos this season, with Ottoman Empire joining the likes of recent G3 HSH Princess Charlene Starling Stakes runner up Gee For Go, G2 Prosport International Debutante heroine Ecstatic Green, and Gatecrasher Stakes winner Gold Season.
Winner of the 2012 G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, Gimmethegreenlight has 13 lots on the upcoming Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, and a further 11 lots on the CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
