Greys Inn relative shines at Chairman’s Sale

3rd May 2019

Norzita, a close relative of Rosedene Stud’s resident sire Greys Inn, made headlines at Friday’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale, when she was knocked down to Arrowfield Stud for $1.7 million.
A daughter of Thorn Park, Norzita was Australia’s Champion 3YO Filly in 2012-2013. She won four times, from 1200-2000m, with Norzita’s victories headed by the G1 Flight Stakes and G1 Vinery Stakes.

A full-sister to the stakes winning Hollows, Norzita earned over $970 000 in stakes money, and she sold at Friday’s sale in foal to reigning Australian Champion Sire Snitzel.

The top class mare, never unplaced in eight starts in stakes company, “a particularly good looking yearling, one of the most expensive by the sire at the time and one couldn’t but have been impressed by her from an early stage. She was an exceptional race filly – incredibly versatile and tenacious.”

Norzita’s third dam is the mighty broodmare Summond (dam of top sprinter and sire Zeditave among others) who is the granddam of former Equus Champion and G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Greys Inn.

The latter, whose progeny include dual Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle (a runner in Saturday’s G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge), made news recently when his son Three To Tango won the G3 Zimbabwe Derby.
