Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio enjoyed success in Hong Kong this weekend, with his son Ezra saluting at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the flashy grey stormed into the lead 200m from home and powered clear to lift Sunday’s Ma On Shan Handicap (1600m) by a length and a half.
Trained by Tony Millard, Ezra, who was earned over HK$2 000 000, was ridden to victory by Karis Teetan.
The gelding, who was knocked down to his owner for R2 200 000 at the 2017 National Yearling Sale, shares his sire Oratorio with outstanding Hong Kong galloper Military Attack. The latter was Hong Kong’s Horse Of The Year and Champion Distance Horse in 2012-2013, with Military Attack’s 13 wins including a pair of G1 triumphs.
A dual Leading Sire in Italy, Oratorio has sired nearly 120 black type horses, with his runners having earned in excess of $68 million in prize money.
