Hong Kong success for Vercingetorix

15th Sep 2022

Maine Chance Farms’ outstanding sire Vercingetorix enjoyed international success on Wednesday when his son Super Commander won in Hong Kong.
Racing under the name of Fearless Warrior in South Africa, the Klawervlei Stud bred Super Commander showed tremendous heart to win Wednesday’s Big Wave Bay Handicap at Happy Valley.

Under Luke Ferraris, the Vercingetorix gelding made all in the five furlong race, and kept finding more in the closing stages to score by a neck.

Out of the Captain Al mare War Patch (and thus bred on the same cross as G1 winner Vernichey), Super Commander has now won twice in Hong Kong and has finished either second or third four times in that country.

As Fearless Warrior, the bay won two of his first three starts before ending his South African campaign with a runner up finish in the 2019 G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.

His sire Vercingetorix enjoyed a magnificent season in 2021-2022 and ended up runner up, behind his sire Silvano, on the South African General Sires List. Also Leading Sire of 3YOs for 2021-2022, Vercingetorix has made another blistering start to the current season with the former Equus Champion currently fifth on the general sires list.
