Durbanville double for Twice Over

18th Sep 2022

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire Twice Over enjoyed a fine season in 2021-2022 and the former European champion’s great run has continued into the new season.
Already sire of eye catching recent Listed Topbet Spring Spree winner Team Gold, Twice Over again hit the headlines when he came up with a pair of eye catching winners at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday.
Twice Over’s three-year-old son Champion Warrior, a colt trained by Brett Crawford, made the perfect start to his racing career when scoring at the first time of asking on Saturday.
Under a well judged ride from Louis Mxothwa, Champion Warrior powered home down the center of the Durbanville track before going on to win the Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Special Weights (1250m) going away by half a length.
A big colt, with a fine action, the Klawervlei Stud bred Champion Warrior was an R85 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
He was one of two winners at Durbanville on Saturday for Twice Over, with the latter’s son Mucho Dinero also catching the eye when victorious in the fourth race on the card. The Justin Snaith trained three-year-old, one of three winners on the card for jockey Keagan De Melo, powered home to get up close home and land the Hollywoodbets Grooms Initiative Maiden Plate (1800m) by three parts of a length, with another son of Twice Over, Run Rudolph Run, taking third spot.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Mucho Dinero was a R1 400 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
Also sire of the G1 winners Do It Again, Double Superlative and Sand And Sea, Twice Over has three lots on offer at the upcoming Cape Racing Ready To Run & 2YO Unbroken Sale
