Mauritzfontein’s resident sire Ideal World, who was represented by four winners last weekend, could be represented by a runner in one of Ireland’s major races for fillies and mares.
The Ideal World sired champion Smart Call is one of 40 fillies and mares who have been entered for the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes, due to be run at the Curragh on July 2nd.

A G1 contest over 2000m, the race was won last year by subsequent Cartier Champion and Horse Of The Year Minding –who is also among the entries for the 2017 Pretty Polly.
Smart Call, who also holds entries in the G2 Dahlia Stakes and G2 Middleton Stakes, has not raced since landing the 2016 G1 J&B Met, defeating subsequent Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle. A dual Equus Champion herself, the triple G1 winning mare has banked more than R3.4 million in stakes thus far.
Her in-form sire, Ideal World –whose recent winners include Listed The Scarlet Lady winner Louisiana, will be represented by 18 yearlings on next week’s National Yearling Sale, with his draft including a half-brother to stakes winning 2yo Oomph (Lot 123), a colt from the same family as Kentucky Derby winner and successful sire Super Saver (Lot 222), a colt out of a full sister to champion and sire Kildonan (Lot 398), and a half brother to Equus Champion and G1 winner Marinaresco (Lot 418).
