Makarios, a three-parts brother to The Alchemy’s promising young sire Where’s That Tiger, picked up a good win at Keeneland on Wednesday.
A son of Giant’s Causeway (who shares his sire Storm Cat with Where’s That Tiger, Makarios swept to the lead just inside the sixteenth pole to triumph in an allowance race over 1800m by a half-length.
The lightly raced three year-old, who has now won or placed in four of only six outings, was third in the recent G3 Transylvania Stakes and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
Makarios and Where’s That Tiger are out of the Mr Prospector mare Blissful –a full-sister to G1 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, the sire of more than 70 stakes winners to date.
Blissful’s stakes placed dam Angel Fever is herself an own sister to another US classic winner and successful sire in the form of Pine Bluff.
UAE Guineas runner up Where’s That Tiger has a superb strike rate in South Africa. From just 10 local runners, Where’s That Tiger has been represented by seven local winners –including the stakes horses Tiger’s Touch, Tiger Quest, Samurai Blade and Supertube.
Where’s That Tiger has two lots on next week’s National Yearling Sale –
