Ideal World gelding maintains his unbeaten record

12th Nov 2018

Mauritzfontein’s successful sire Ideal World looks to have a truly top class prospect on his hands in the form of Rainbow Bridge.
The latter made it win number five from five outings when downing a high class field to win the Cape Mile (Non-Black Type) at Kenilworth on Sunday –with Rainbow Bridge stamping himself a leading contender for the major races in the Cape Summer Season in the process.

Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge, trained by Eric Sands and ridden on Sunday by Bernard Fayd’Herbe, was always travelling well in Sunday’s R150 000 race and when asked the question he bounded clear to go and post a comfortable 1.75 length victory in the 1600m contest.

In the process, Rainbow Bridge (who already has a trio of G3 races to his name) accounted for G2 Selangor Cup winner Rocket Countdown, dual G1 winner Eyes Wide Open, the 2018 G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate second Copper Force, and G3 Politician Stakes hero Horizon.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the four-year-old gelded Rainbow Bridge was a R300 000 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale and Sunday’s win pushed his earnings to R612 500.

Ideal World, whose 33 stakes horses include such Equus Champions as Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo, shares his remarkable granddam Hasili (dam of five G1 winners as well as champion sire Dansili) with the promising filly Obligate.

The latter dug down deep when making a winning debut at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.

Ideal World, whose multiple stakes winning daughter Coral Bay is among the entries for the R400 000 G2 Concorde Cup, has a single lot on this month’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
