Varsfontein Stud’s successful sire Judpot is from an outstanding family, with his relatives including exceptional 3yo filly Alpha Centauri.

The latter, now retired, has been nominated for two Cartier Awards –namely Horse Of The Year and Champion Three Year Old Filly.

Trained by Jessica Harrington, the grey daughter of Mastercraftsman won six of ten outings, with her principal victories this year including the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas, G1 Coronation Stakes, G1 Falmouth Stakes and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois. She retired having banked more than £1.25 million in prize money.

Alpha Centauri is out of the unraced Rahy mare Alpha Lupi, whose French 1000 Guineas/French Oaks winning dam East Of The Moon is a half-sister to triple G1 winner and outstanding sire Kingmambo as well as Judpot.

Judpot, a son of A P Indy and the legendary racemare/producer Miesque, was in the news himself recently when his son Coral Fever won the 2018 G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein earlier in November.

Bred by the Ascot Stud, Coral Fever has now banked over R4.1 million in stakes, with his previous big race victories including the 2018 G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge.

He is one of four G1 winners sired by Judpot, with others being Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo and Juxtapose.
