Mauritzfontein’s high-class Kingmambo horse Ideal World enjoyed a notable double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, with his double headed by his magnificent son Rainbow Bridge capturing the G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes (1400m) in scintillating fashion.

Despite making his first start since winning January’s G1 Cape Town Met Presented By Cape Racing, and running over a trip short of his best,  dual Met winner Rainbow Bridge simply oozed class as he won Sunday’s feature as he liked
The Eric Sands trained gelding, under a confident ride from Luke Ferraris, pulled clear to win the Drill Hall Stakes by nearly two lengths.

Left in Rainbow Bridge’s wake were the graded stakes winners Catch Twentytwo, Ultra Magnus, Silver Operator, Eden Roc and his multiple G1 winning half-brother Golden Ducat.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Rainbow Bridge has now won 10 of 22 starts for earnings of R7 480 625.

The gelding, whom was bought for original owner Chris Gerber for R300 000 from the 2016 National Sale, claimed the 2021 Drill Hall Stakes in a time of 83.77 seconds.

Rainbow Bridge, who has now eight graded stakes wins to his name, is one of 26 stakes winners for the blue blooded Kingmambo horse Ideal World.

The latter, whose champion dam is a full-sister to outstanding sire and broodmare sire Dansili, had enjoyed success earlier in the day on Sunday when his three-year-old daughter Dragon Queen broke her maiden over 1200m, while scoring for trainer Paul Peter and jockey Gavin Lerena.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Dragon Queen had been third and second respectively in her two previous starts.
