Ideal World star entered for York feature

5th Apr 2018

Mauritzfontein’s successful resident sire Ideal World could be represented by a runner in the G2 Betfred Middleton Stakes, run at York on May 17th.

Smart Call

His star daughter Smart Call is one of an outstanding group of fillies and mares entered for the 2063 metre race –star among them being Cartier Horse Of The Year and five time G1 winner Enable.

Smart Call, who was third to subsequent G1 winner Blond Me in the 2017 Middleton Stakes, was South Africa’s Equus Champion Older Filly/Mare and Champion Middle Distance Horse of 2015-2016.

She will make her first outing in 2018 when lining up in the Listed Betfred “Home of Goals Galore” Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes over 1600m at Kempton this Saturday. Jim Crowley will take the ride on the Sir Michael Stoute trained mare.

The Mauritzfontein bred and owned mare, who has not run since finishing seventh in December’s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase,  won seven times in South Africa, with Smart Call’s notable victories including the G1 J&B Met, G1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes and the G1 Woolavington 2000.

Her sire Ideal World, whose other notable offspring include fellow Equus Champion Hermoso Mundo and graded winners Cape Speed, Zante and Zen Arcade,  has an exceptional draft on offer at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The son of Kingmambo’s National Sale draft of 19 includes a full-brother to G1 filly Persian Rug (Lot 3), a half-sister to retired G1 winner Nightingale and to recent Oaks Plate winner Chinkapin (Lot 5), a half-sister to G2 winning 2yo Harry Lime (Lot 8), a colt out of G3 Magnolia Handicap winner Run Angel Run (Lot 21) and a half-brother to G2 Selangor Cup hero De Kock (Lot 267).
