Maine Chance Farms’ champion sire Vercingetorix dominated proceedings in Tuesday’s G2 TAB Igugu Stakes (2000m) at Turffontein.
His five-year-old daughters Callmegetrix and Minogue ran 1-2 in Tuesday’s R350 000 contest.

Trying the 2000m trip for a first time, the Sean Tarry trained Callmegetrix was given a fine ride by Craig Zackey in the Igugu Stakes.
Racing off a slow pace, the logleading jockey brought his five-year-old mount with a well timed challenge. And, despite runner up Minogue fighting back gamely, Callemgetrix was too strong for her rivals, and went on to post a one length score.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, Callemgetrix was claiming her second graded victory, with the mare having also prevailed in the 2025 G2 Betway Joburg Spring F and M Challenge.

Out of the Kabool mare Clarion Call, Callmegetrix races for Mario Ferreira and the Camargue Stud Syndicate.

Tuesday’s winner has won eight of 20 starts for her connections.

Callmegetrix one of a growing number of graded stakes winners representing Vercingetorix in 2025-2026. This number includes such G1 winners as Double Grand Slam, Grand Empire, and Quickstepgal, as well as the likes of Splittheeights, Princess Of Gaul, and Good Day Sunshine.
