Impressive 2yo debut winner for Silvano

26th Jul 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ outstanding sire Silvano, on track to record his second General Sires Title this year, was represented by a very impressive two-year-old winner at Scottsville on Wednesday.
Billy Silver, who was bred by Northfields Stud, justified his starting price of 7-10 when romping to victory by five and a quarter lengths, first time out, over 1200m at the mid-week race meeting.

The Dennis Bosch trained colt, who is out of the stakes winning Kahal mare Evening Attire, is the sixth two-year-old winner for Silvano this season, with the sire’s other juvenile winners including Silver God, Silver Thursday and Silver Coin.

(Another 2yo by Silvano, Hemingway, ran a close second on debut on Tuesday and he looks likely to provide Silvano with another juvenile winner before too long).

Previously champion sire in South Africa in 2013, Silvano has enjoyed another remarkable season in 2016-2017, with his offspring winning such races as the G1 Vodacom Durban July, G1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes, G1 SA Derby, G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic, G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks, and the G2 Gauteng Guineas.

Silvano, who had four winners over the past weekend, is also responsible for Saturday’s impressive G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Silvan Star.

The son of Lomitas will be represented by 12 lots at next month’s National Two Year Old Sale.
