Multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight looks to have come up with another bright prospect in the form of Gimme Some Luck.
That two-year-old made the perfect start to his career when he romped home to win on debut at the Vaal on Thursday.
Under Blaine Marx-Jacobson, the Fabian Habib trained Gimme Some Luck got away quickly and went out to make the running in Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).

The Gimmethegreenlight colt quickened up smartly in the closing stages, with Gimme Some Luck drawing off to win by eight lengths at the first time of asking.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Gimme Some Luck races for TKP Racing, Messrs G J Nassif, J Nassif & Tri-Deal Sixteen CC.

The colt, who is out of the Shamardal mare Shauntrel, was an R800 000 purchase from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.

Gimme Some Luck is the sixth two-year-old winner this season for his champion sire, with Gimmethegreenlight’s juveniles this season also including G2 TAB SA Nursery entrant Gimme A Vodka.

The son of More Than Ready has 29 lots on offer at the National Yearling Sale, with Gimmethegreenlight’s National draft including yearlings out of such G1 winning mares as Silvano’s Pride, Silver Mountain, and Summer Pudding.
