Master Of My Fate filly lands East Cape Oaks

13th April 2024

Varsfontein Stud’s homebred stallion Master Of My Fate has had an excellent few weeks, and the son of Jet Master struck again when Master Of My Fate filly Joy And Peace won the Listed East Cape Oaks (2000m) at Fairview on Friday. An impressive winner of the www.soccer6.co.za Oaks Plate last time out, the Alan Greeff-trained Joy And Peace picked up her biggest win to date when victorious in the 2024 East Cape Oaks.
Under Richard Fourie, three-year-old Joy And Peace raced towards the back of the field for much of Friday’s race. However, when Fourie bought the filly with a run around the field with Joy And Peace powering into the second spot.
With 400m left to go, Joy And Peace hit the front and she stayed on strongly to win by a length and three quarters.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Joy And Peace has now won four of 12 starts.
The filly, who is out of the Spectrum mare Amazing Grace, was an R130 000 purchase from the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.
Joy And Peace was one of two winners on the day for Master Of My Fate, whose son Pembroke captured the fourth race on the card.

Master Of My Fate went on to have further success the following day when his daughter Love Is A Rose and son Master Of Paris both won at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

The Varsfontein Stud resident has had an excellent few weeks, with Master Of My Fate fillies Splicethemainbrace and Princess Izzy winning the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery and Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes respectively.
Another Master Of My Fate filly My Soul Mate caught the eye when finishing a good second in the recent G2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks.
