Impressive debut winner for Jay Peg

8th Jun 2017

The Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud based Jay Peg has enjoyed a tremendous run of success with his two-year-olds this season.
The former Equus Champion was represented by yet another 2yo winner when his daughter Image Award made a winning debut for champion trainer Sean Tarry at Scottsville on Wednesday.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the R180 000 Klawervlei Farm Sale buy defied greenness, and a tardiness at the gates, to win first time out by a length and a quarter over 1000m.

Image Award, bred on the same Jay Peg/Jet Master cross as G3 Cup Trial winner Exit Here, is the fourth juvenile winner for Jay Peg this season, with the sire’s previous 2yo winners including G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Woljayrine.

A multiple G1 winner, whose wins included the G1 Dubai Duty Free and G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup, Jay Peg is a well established stallion with a fine record of siring high class two-year-olds –with his past runners include the high class graded stakes winning 2yos Flash Drive (G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery), Hot Affair (G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery), and Olympic Owen (G3 Protea Stakes).
