Impressive debut winner for Rafeef

23rd Mar 2025

Ridgemont’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef has some very exciting two-year-olds to his name this season.
Rafeef came up with another eye-catching juvenile winner on Saturday when his son Esteemed made a winning debut at Turffontein.
Trained, like Rafeef, by Mike De Kock, Esteemed was backed down to start a 63-100 chance for the www.tab4racing.com Maiden Juvenile Plate (1160m).
He duly obliged impressively. Under Ryan Munger, Esteemed hit the front full of running and powered away to score by four and a half lengths.
Esteemed looks likely to line up in Saturday’s G2 TAB SA Nursery.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, the colt is out of the High Chaparral mare Honour Roll.
Esteemed is the fourth two-year-old winner this season, thus far, for Rafeef, with his tally also including the unbeaten Easy Tiger and Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes heroine Glastonbury.

The two-year-old was one of two winners for his sire on Saturday, with Rafeef mare Fun Zone capturing the seventh race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

Rafeef looks set for a big day at Turffontein this Saturday. Not only could Esteemed contest the SA Nursery, but Rafeef’s star son William Robertson is a runner in the G1 Computaform Sprint as is another son of Rafeef, Mover And Shaker.
Rafeef will be represented in Saturday’s G1 TAB Empress Club Stakes by Beating Wings, while Glastonbury is a leading contender for the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery.
