Impressive juvenile winner for Querari

13th November 2021

Maine Chance Farms’ prominent sire Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, is no stranger to siring smart two-year-olds, and the son of Oasis Dream made more headlines with his two-year-olds this weekend, when his two-year-old daughter Fennec Fox won the first juvenile race of the 2021-2022 South African racing season at Turffontein on Saturday.

The Paul Peter trained filly was always up with the pace in Saturday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (800m), and, when Warren Kennedy asked the question, Fennec Fox kept finding more to make a winning debut.

Another Querari sired two-year-old, Vasilikos, stayed on take fourth spot, two and three-quarter lengths off the winner.
Bred by Limestone Thoroughbred Trust, Fennec Fox was sent off a 4-1 shot for Saturday’s dash.

Out of the Trippi mare Miss Wales, Fennec Fox was a R75 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

Her G1 winning sire Querari is also responsible for the graded stakes winning two-year-olds Cockney Pride, Cosmic Pride, Maryah and G1 Thekwini Stakes victress Querari Falcon, as well as three winners of the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes in the form of Herrin, Homely Girl, and Luna Wish respectively.

By the same sire as recently crowned Cartier Champion Native Trail, Querari has four lots on next week’s November Two Year Old Sale.
