Irish Champion Pathfork, whose 2yo daughter Miss Honey captured the Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes at Kenilworth on Saturday, enjoyed more two-year-old success at the Vaal classic track on Tuesday.

Pathfork gelding Look To The Sky made a smart winning debut on Tuesday when running out an impressive one and a half length victor of the first race, a maiden juvenile plate over 1000 metres.

Bred by Highlands, the Clinton Binda trained 2yo was a R200 000 buy from the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.

Look To The Sky is a second juvenile winner (from just four runners) this season for his sire Pathfork, who was himself an unbeaten G1 winner in Ireland at two.

Since retiring to stud, Pathfork (who stood the 2018 season at the Sandown Stud) has been a prolific sire of winners, with his notable performers including such graded stakes winners as Mighty High, My Friend Lee and Red Chesnut Road, as well as the high class stakes winners Miss Honey, Madame Speaker, and Precious Pansy, with Pathfork having been responsible for at least one stakes winner in each of his first four crops.

A son of US champion sire Distorted Humor (and from the same male line as champion South African sire Trippi) Pathfork, a half-brother to current US star War Of Will, hails from the same female line as hugely influential stallions Redoute’s Choice, El Gran Senor and Try My Best, as well as former champion South African sire Northern Guest.
