Juvenile double for Querari

10th Jul 2017

Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young sire Querari was represented by a notable two-year-old double this weekend, which took his number of 2yo winners for the season to fourteen.

Querari Falcon

Querari has thus been represented by more juvenile winners during 2016-2017 than such prominent stallions Redoute’s Choice, Gimmethegreenlight, Dynasty, Trippi and Silvano.

First of the Querari 2yos to salute over the weekend was Querari’s Secret, who stayed on gamely to break his maiden over 1400m for trainer Vaughan Marshall and jockey MJ Byleveld.
Bred by the Favour Stud, Querari’s Secret was a R280 000 purchase from last year’s March Yearling Sale.

Second Querari two-year-old to win over the weekend was Mind Your Business, who won nicely, at just the second time of asking, at Scottsville on Sunday. Clearly showing plenty at home (she was backed from 10-1 into 3-1), the Maine Chance Farms bred filly romped home to score by 1.5 lengths over 1200m and she looks a nice sort in the making. Out of the National Assembly mare Monopoly, Mind Your Business was a R70 000 buy from last year’s National 2YO Sale.

Another 2yo by Querari to catch the eye this weekend was Ma Forte, who ran second, on debut, over 1000m at Kenilworth on Saturday and she could well give her sire yet another juvenile winner before too long.

Quasillo

Querari, whose three-parts brother Quasillo stands his first season at Klipdrif this year, has once again proven popular in the sales ring this year, with a filly by Querari fetching R1.6 million at the National Yearling Sale.

Notable 2yo winners representing Querari in 2016-2017 include Listed Dahlia Plate winner Joking, the hugely exciting Monks Hood, G3 Strelitzia Stakes second Made In Hollywood and Wonderwall, who ran third to the unbeaten Mustaaqeem in the G1 SA Nursery.

Himself a G1 winner and proven G1 sire, Querari will be represented by seven lots at next month’s National 2YO Sale.
