Drakenstein Stud’s consistently successful sire What A Winter continues to fire on all cylinders, and the former multiple Equus Champion came up with yet another smart looking double at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

What A Winter filly What A Blizzard kicked the Kenilworth meeting off when she made most of the running to land the first race on the card, the Welcome To Cape Racing Maiden Plate (F&M) (1000m) for inform trainer Justin Snaith and owner-breeders Pat and Henry Devine.
Under Richard Fourie, three-year-old What A Blizzard kept going gamely in the closing stages to break her maiden by half a length.
The race was a good one for What A Winter, with What A Blizzard beating the What A Winter sired first-timer What A Cherry into third spot.
Justin Snaith enjoyed further success with the progeny of What A Winter, when promising sophomore You Know Who won the fifth race, the Computaform Online MR76 Handicap (1400m) in convincing fashion.
Under Richard Fourie, the gelded son of What A Winter pulled clear to score by a length and a quarter while downing older rivals.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, You Know Who has been the soul of consistency, with the three-year-old having won or placed in seven of his eight starts and he looks destined for bigger and better things.
Tuesday’s winner was a R900 000 buy from the 2020 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2020-2021, What A Winter has seven lots on this week’s CTS Ready To Run Sale, and a further seven lots on offer at the November Two Year Old Sale.
