Exciting three-year-old Legacy Link, whose dam Chiasma is a half-sister to Paardeberg Stud’s new stallion Kikkuli, showed her class when she won the G3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on Wednesday.
John and Thady Gosden’s filly booked her spot in the G1 Betfred Oaks next month with a battling success on Wednesday. Legacy Link – who is by Dubawi out of a full sister to the all-time great Frankel – created a striking impression when successful at Haydock on her second start before rounding out her juvenile campaign with an excellent fourth behind Precise in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.
With that form boosted by the third-place horse and runner-up filling the second and third position in the 1000 Guineas earlier in the month, John and Thady Gosden’s Juddmonte-owned filly was sent off the 6/4 market leader as she stepped up to an extended mile and a quarter for the first time.
She moved on down into unknown territory travelling much the best under Colin Keane but Ed Walker’s Felicitas, who had gone into plenty of notebooks after her Sandown success, soon emerged on the scene as a major threat. The pair set about battling it out up the straight and although Felicitas continued to pester towards her outside, Legacy Link found plenty for pressure, repelling the persistent threat by three quarters of a length over the line.
Her regally bred dam Chiasma is not only a full-sister to Frankel but also to multiple G1 winner and G1 sire Noble Mission.
Chiasma’s well performed half-brother Kikkuli (by Kingman) is set to stand his first season at stud in 2026.
