Thursday double for Rafeef

15th May 2026

Ridgemont’s top sire Rafeef continues to fire on all cylinders, and the son of Redoute’s Choice was at it again when coming up with a pair of winners at the Vaal on Thursday.
Rafeef’s first success on Thursday came when his lightly raced daughter Lovable won the sixth race on the card.

The Sean Tarry trained three-year-old claimed her second win, from six starts, when storming home to land the Play Soccer 6,10 And 13 FM Divided Handicap (1000m).
Under an inform Keagan De Melo, Lovable hit the front full of running and stayed on to score by three parts of a length.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the Rafeef filly races for Dayalan Chinsammy, Aden Lahoud, Jarryd Lahoud, TKP Racing and the Wernars Family.

Lovable, who is out of the Antonius Pius mare Kissable, was a R525 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale.

Rafeef’s second success on Thursday came in the very next race when his daughter Juliet Tango won the Racing240 FM 97 Divided Handicap (1800m).
Winner of the 2023 Listed War Of Athena Handicap, the Mano Pandaram owned and trained seven-year-old powered home, under Mxolisi Mbuto, to win going away by two and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Juliet Tango is out of the Jet Master mare Jet Trail.

Her inform sire Rafeef looks set to be well represented next weekend in the feature races at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
The G1 Computaform Sprint winner could be represented in all of the G1 South African Fillies Sprint, G2 Golden Horse Sprint, G1 Gold Medallion and G1 Allan Robertson Championship.
