Kommetdieding to Klawervlei

14th Nov 2022

Klawervlei Stud will be home to another top-class prospect when the Klawervlei bred star Kommetdieding joins the farms’ stallion line up in 2023.
Winner of the G1 Vodacom Durban July at three, and the G1 WSB Cape Town Met at four, Kommetdieding put up a scintillating five-year-old debut when storming home to finish second in Saturday’s The Bantry Bay Stakes at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

Taking on such G1 speedsters as Tempting Fate Ambiorix and Rio Querari Kommetdieding stamped himself a leading contender for this season’s G1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate and G1 Met with a fine second, over a trip short of his best, under 62kgs.
The handsome entire has a spectacular race record already, however, with Kommetdieding winning his first four starts, including the G3 Politician Stakes, before going on to down champions Got The Greenlight, Do It Again, and Rainbow Bridge when victorious in the 2021 G1 Vodacom Durban July.
Kommetdieding would go on to finish second, to multiple Equus Champion Jet Dark in the 2022 G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate before turning the tables on Jet Dark when victorious in the 2022 G1 WSB Cape Town Met.
At the time of writing, Kommetdieding, a former Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate, has won or placed in 13 of 15 starts, and has already earned more than R3.7 million in stakes and he has won or placed in six G1 races thus far.
Not surprisingly, given his superb race record, fine physique and classic pedigree, shares in Kommetdieding were sold out overnight.
From the powerful Sadler’s Wells male line, the son of Equus Champion and consistently successful sire Elusive Fort, Kommetdieding is out of a speedy, stakes placed daughter of Klawervlei Stud’s legendary sire Captain Al.
Not only is Kommetdieding’s dam Adorable a three-parts sister to triple G1 winner Captain America, she is directly descended in female line from one of the most influential broodmares in the stud book.
Adorable, who won three times and finished second in the Listed Gardenia Handicap, is a direct descendant of the magnificent Queen Of Light-whose numerous high-class descendants include classic winners Fairy Footsteps, Latice, Royal Palace, and successful sire Lawman as well as another top-class stallion in the form of Welsh Pageant.
