Legislate colt wins on debut

8th October 2026

Cheveley Stud’s top-class stallion Legislate looks to have come up with another smart sort in the form of Above The Law.
The latter made the perfect start to his career when making a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday.

Trained, like his sire, by Justin Snaith, three-year-old Above The Law stormed home, under RIchard Fourie to land the Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1250m) by a neck.

Said to have been working well at home, Above The Law was backed down to start a 5-1 shot for Wednesday’s race.
Bred by Sandown Stud, Above The Law is owned by Gary Player Stud Farm (Pty) Ltd, Greenacres Trust (Nom: Mr N M Shirtliff), Messrs C Ryan & G N Shirtliff.

Above The Law, who is out of the Greys Inn mare Saffron Hill, was a R400 000 buy from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.

His four time G1 winning sire Legislate enjoyed an excellent season in 2025-2026, where his four black type winners, who won seven stakes races in South Africa, included Equus Champion Wish List.

Legislate has a single lot on offer at the upcoming October Two Year Old Sale.
