Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion Futura had a great season in 2025-2026, and the champion son of Dynasty’s form has continued into the current season.
Futura looks to have come up with another progressive sort in the form of Future Engagement.
The latter made an eye catching debut when she won the second race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday.

Under Callan Murray, the James Crawford trained filly ran on strongly down the inside of the Durbanville course  to get up close home and win the RCS Two Year Old Sale 24 October Maiden Plate (F and M) (1250m) by a long neck.

Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Future Engagement is a full-sister to G2 Track And Ball Oaks winner Pink Tourmaline and half-sister to the graded stakes winners Sapphire Gem and King Of Gems.

Future Engagement, who is out of the Trippi mare Sapphire Gem, is bred on the same Futura/Trippi cross as such stakes winners as Future Swing, Vihaan’s Pie, Future Girl, Dawnofanewday, and Sweet Future.

Former Horse Of The Year Futura had a tremendous season in 2025-2026, when he was sixth on the South African General Sires premiership.
The sire of 2026 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July winner Note To Self has five lots on offer at the October Two Year Old Sale including a filly (Lot 24) bred on the same cross as Future Engagement.
