Varsfontein Stud’s successful homebred stallion Master Of My Fate had a good day at Turffontein on Thursday afternoon.
The son of Jet Master came up with two winners on Thursday, with his two-year-old daughter Strike A Match catching the eye when victorious in Turffontein’s second race.
An impressive winner of her only other start, the Fanie Bronkhurst trained Strike A Match made it two wins from two starts when downing some promising male rivals to lift Thursday’s Betontab.co.za Juvenile Plate (1200m) in game fashion.
Under Chase Maujean, the Master Of My Fate filly stayed on strongly to hold off first-timer Acorn and score by a neck and she looks a decent prospect in the making.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Strike A Match was a R200 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
The filly is out of the Noordhoek Flyer mare Up In Smoke and she is one of five two-year-old winners for Master Of My Fate this season.
Master Of My Fate made the perfect start to Thursday, with Strike A Match victorious in the second race, and his Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred daughter Saint Anastasia successful in the first race on the Turffontein card.
Making just her third career start, the Alec Laird trained three-year-old pulled clear in Thursday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Workriders Maiden Plate (F&M) (1450m), with Saint Anastasia powering home to beat fellow Master Of My Fate daughter Fashionenigma by an emphatic two and a half lengths.
Currently fourth on the general sires list, Master Of My Fate has eight lots on Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale.
