Varsfontein Stud’s red hot sire Master Of My Fate claimed his fifth win of the past weekend when his two-year-old daughter Strike A Match made a winning debut at Turffontein on Sunday.
Trained by Fanie Bronkhurst, Strike A Match proved too good for her rivals when landing Sunday’s first race, the #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) in smart fashion.
Under Chase Maujean, Strike A Match pulled clear to win by two lengths on debut, with more experienced rival Twin Strike finishing second, and well bred first-timer United Prince a well beaten third.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Strike A Match was a R200 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
The filly, who is out of the Noordhoek Flyer mare Up In Smoke, is the fourth two-year-old winner this season for Master Of My Fate at the time of writing.
The son of Jet Master is also responsible for fellow first timer two-year-old winners Power Broker, Question Master and Street Outlaw.
Also responsible for a pair of winners at Kenilworth on Met day, Master Of My Fate has five lots on offer at this week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale -including a filly (Lot 14) out of a stakes placed daughter of Fort Wood, a colt (Lot 64) out of a three-parts sister to champion Argonaut, and a colt (Lot71) out of Starling Stakes queen Kiribati.
