Varsfontein Stud’s homebred stallion Master Of My Fate came up with a good looking debut winner at the Vaal on Thursday.
His three-year-old daughter Steel And Satin showed plenty of courage when winning the second race at the Vaal.
Under Keagan De Melo, the Tony Peter trained filly fought out a desperate finish with runner up Platinum Shay in the closing stages of Thursday’s #Youcanbetonus! Maiden Plate (3-year-od Fillies) (1200m).
Steel And Satin dug down deep and got up to win on debut by half a length.
Bred by Ascot Stud, the Master Of My Fate filly is owned by the Kapnias family.
Steel And Satin, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Norbury, was a R450 000 buy from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.
She was one of two winners on Thursday for her inform sire, with Master Of My Fate gelding Echo Check winning the ninth and final race on the card.
Responsible for 11 stakes winners of 16 black type races in 2025-2026, Master Of My Fate has three lots on offer on the October Two Year Old Sale.
