Marchetto, whose dam is a half-sister to Varsfontein Stud’s exciting sire Master Of My Fate, made a very pleasing impression on debut this past Sunday.
A 3yo colt by Silvano, Marchetto ran on smartly to win first time of asking by half a length over 1200m at Greyville’s Sunday meeting.
The colt, who is trained by Gareth Van Zyl, had previously finished sixth in a barrier trial but showed good improvement to win on his first official start.
Out of the winning Jallad mare My Guiding Star, Marchetto was a R350 000 buy from the 2017 National 2YO Sale.
He is a half-brother to unbeaten G3 Flamboyant Stakes winner Hashtagyolo and to G2 The Debutante third La Revere.
My Guiding Star herself is a half-sister to stakes winner Justthewayyouare (dam of G3 winner Captain Splendid), Fidelity (dam of current high class filly Ghaalla) and to G2 Premier Trophy/Peninsula Handicap winning sire Master Of My Fate.
The latter, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire last season by winners, has made a tremendous start to his stud career with his early runners including G1 performers Goliath Heron and Twist Of Fate. The latter holds an entry in the upcoming G3 Cape Classic, while Master Of My Fate’s hugely exciting daughter In The Stars is entered in the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship on the same day as the Cape Classic.
A son of seven times champion SA sire Jet Master, Master Of My Fate has three lots on the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, and two lots on the 2018 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
