Querari filly lifts KZN Guineas Trial

15th Oct 2018

Maine Chance Farms’ increasingly successful sire Querari looks to have yet another really classy sort on his hands in the form of Arianos Shadow.

Arianos Shadow

The latter showed her class when running out a facile one and three quarter length winner of the KZN Fillies Guineas Trial at Greyville on Sunday when accounting for some of KZN’s more promising sophomore fillies.

Bred by the Narrow Creek Stud, Arianos Shadow (one of three in the Fillies Guineas Trial by Querari) has now won three of only five outings (she was second in the G3 Gagasi FM Debutante Stakes at two) and took her earnings to over R300 000 with her win on Sunday.

Victorious in the Sentinel Stakes at two, the Yogas Govender trained filly is out of the Count Dubois mare Counting Gold.
Arianos Shadow is thus bred on the same Querari/Count Dubois cross as top class sprinter Pinnacle Peak and G1 Thekwini Stakes second Melliflora.

She is one of several hugely promising 3yos representing Querari this year, with others including the unbeaten Sophomore Sprint hero Pleasedtomeetyou.

Querari is a son of champion sprinter Oasis Dream, who has made waves both as a sire and sire of sires in 2018. Oasis Dream himself is responsible for recent G1 winners Polydream (Prix Maurice De Gheest) and Pretty Polly (Prix Morny) and has now a total of 17 top level winners to his credit.

Oasis Dream is also enjoying a growing reputation as a sire of sires, and is responsible in this regard by not only Querari but the very successful Showcasing.
The latter has been responsible for six stakes winners in 2018 thus far (his progeny this year include G1 winner Advertise), with Showcasing also enjoying major sales ring success this year. A Showcasing filly made €850 000 at the 2018 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale,

Another by Oasis Dream, former champion sprinter Muhaarar, has made a spectacular start to his stud career. A member of his first crop, a filly out of Queenofthefairies, made  925 000 at the recent Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Book 1.

Querari, a half-brother to group/graded winners Quasillo and Quidura, has four juveniles on sale at the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale and 12 on offer at the 2018 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
