Ninth US stakes win for Trippi granddaughter

4th Sep 2018

Miss Sunset, whose dam Tuscan Sunset is a daughter of Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi, picked up the ninth stakes win of her career when landing the C.E.R.F Stakes at Del Mar on Monday.

Now a 10 time winner, from 18 races, Miss Sunset was backed into odds-on returning to California-bred company here, the bay broke well and tracked the speed of long-shot Dis Smart Cat from second through fractions of :22.56 and :45.94. Taking a bit longer than expected to put that foe away while confidently handled by Mike Smith, she surged to the front at the sixteenth pole and edged clear late to score by a length and a half. Show It N Moe It nailed Dis Smart Cat for second on the line

Runner up in the 2018 G1 Madison Stakes and winner of the 2017 G2 Raven Run Stakes, Miss Sunset (by Into Mischief) has banked more than $870 000 in stakes.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi is fast making his mark as a broodmare sire and is also damsire of US graded stakes winners Liam’s Map, Not This Time and Multiplier.
