Former Equus Outstanding Stallion Judpot had a quick-fire double at the Vaal racecourse on Tuesday.
The son of legendary sire A P Indy’s 3yo daughter Parental Control broke her maiden when romping home in Tuesday’s third race, while Judpot daughter Get Your Grove On gave her sire a double when scoring for trainer Ashley Fortune in the Vaal’s seven race.
Bred by Daytona Stud, the consistent Parental Control justified even money favouritism by running out a clear-cut 2.6 length winner over the 1200m sprint trip for trainer Stuart Pettigrew and jockey Piere Strydom.
The filly, who is out of the Qui Danzig mare Pacific Destiny, was an R80 000 buy from the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale.
Judpot’s second winner came when Get Your Grove On collected a 1.7 length win over 1400m to register back to back wins. She has now won or placed in four of six starts and she looks a progressive sort capable of winning more races.
From the same family as Judpot sired Equus Champion Along Came Polly, Get Your Grove On is out of Listed Breeders Guineas winner Comebackanddance (by Jallad).
A half-brother to the breed shaping sire Kingmambo and fellow French classic winner East Of The Moon, Judpot’s relatives have been collecting big race wins the world over with monotonous regularity this year.
Among the major races won in 2018 by horses from the same family as the regally bred Judpot are the French Derby, Irish 1000 Guineas, Prix Jacques Le Marois, Falmouth Stakes, King Edward VII Stakes and Coronation Stakes!
