Drakenstein Stud’s G1 Sun Met winning stallion One World continues to make a big impression with his first two-year-olds. The son of Captain Al’s fine start to his stud career continued when his classy son Lion Rampart romped home to a facile win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday afternoon.
One World colts Lion Rampart and Kaiboy finished first and second when contesting the third race at Kenilworth on Tuesday, with Lion Rampart confirming himself as a classy two-year-old with a deceptively easy win.
It was the second time in the past few days that One World two-year-olds have filled the first two placings in a race, with the Drakenstein resident’s sons One More and Gorgeous Klein running first and second respectively in last Thursday’s Champions Day 6 April Maiden Juvenile Plate.
Lion Rampart, trained like his sire by Vaughan Marshall, picked up his second win from just five starts when he made all to win Tuesday’s Cape Turf Club Juvenile Plate (1100m) by two lengths, with his paternal half-brother Kaiboy making a pleasing debut to finish second.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Lion Rampart had finished fourth on debut before winning impressively next time out. Before his win on Wednesday, the One World colt had finished fourth, behind fellow One World colt One Stripe, in the G3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.
Lion Rampart, who looks destined for a step up in grade, is out of the Var mare Saltire.
He is one of eight winners for his sire One World, with the latter currently both South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs, by stakes and Leading First Season Sire for 2023-2024. At the time of writing, One World’s first two-year-old runners had earned more than R1.831 million in prize money thus far.
