Oratorio filly lands Golden Slipper

25th July 2020

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s inform stallion Oratorio had a tremendous day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, with his son Chantyman landing the first race, and his exciting two-year-old daughter Love Bomb winning Saturday’s G2 Zulu Kingdom Golden Slipper (1400m).

Under jockey Sean Veale, the Wiggill/Whittaker bred Love Bomb powered home down the inside of the track to get up and win by just over three parts of a length.
Trained by Frank Robinson, Love Bomb had caught the eye two starts back when she made a winning debut over 1000m, and she proved too strong for favourite Caralluma in the 2020 Golden Slipper.

Now a winner of two of just three starts, Love Bomb is the 58th stakes winner for Oratorio.

The latter has enjoyed a superb season in 2019-2020 thus far, with Oratorio also responsible for this season’s graded stakes winners Capoeira (G3 World Sports Betting Cup Trial), Divine Odyssey (G3 Jubilee Handicap) Mardi Gras (G2 New Turf Carriers Merchants), and Snapscan (G2 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers, G3 Victress Stakes).

Twice champion sire in Italy, the triple G1 winning Oratorio has three lots on offer at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale –including a full-brother to Hong Kong winner and G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Cue The Music and half-brother (Lot 276) to champion Val De Ra.
