Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young stallion Oriental Charm gained a further update to his pedigree when his half-sister Meg’s Legacy won at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday.
A five-year-old daughter of Legislate, the Adam Marcus trained mare powered home, under Craig Zackey, to win the RCS Two Year Old Sale 24 October Class 5 (F and M) (1250m) by three-parts of a length.

Bred by Cheveley Stud, Meg’s Legacy races for Messrs R Brijlal & W Volschenk, Dr J Steytler, Mrs Wendy Probert, Nick & Val McFall,  and Tania & Jaco Rossouw.

Now a three time winner, Meg’s Legacy is one of four winners produced by the Greys Inn mare Souk, herself a three time winner and runner up in the Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes.

Out of Tagine, a full-sister to G1 South African Derby winner Bouquet-Garni, Souk is best known as the dam of the talented Oriental Charm.

A son of multiple champion sire Vercingetorix, Oriental Charm won or placed in nine of 15 starts, and earned more than R5.17 million in stakes.

The bay scored the biggest win of his career when he landed the 2024 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, where Oriental Charm accounted for the likes of Cousin Casey, Royal Victory, See It Again, and Green With Envy.

From the family of legendary sires Danehill, Machiavellian and Northern Dancer, Oriental Charm stands for a fee of R15 000.
